AR recoil buffer bumper does it work?

I see an AR buffer tip made out of a polymer and it is supposed to reduce felt recoil (not bad with the 223/556), but is also supposed to reduce wear on the lower. Does anyone know about how this really works out?

I don't see how. There's a polymer tip on the buffer already. The buffer tube (extension) is what takes the blow in an over gassed/under buffered AR, not the lower. It *may* reduce felt recoil but doesn't do anything to solve the other issues of over gassing/under buffing, like BCG velocity, hard extraction and bounce. You'd be better off with a heavier buffer which will help those issues as well as reduce felt recoil.

Some of the Service rifle crowd uses those to minimize overrun so the bolt stop doesn't get so squarshed, especially in 308 variety ARs. I've never used one of those plastic disks you're talking about, but I noticed much smoother operating AR's with flat wire chrome silicon buffer springs.

Read some of Zediker's books, he talks about it's use to minimize bolt gap overrun. The wear comes into play when you're lobbing 90grain bullets down range. And the bolt stop on the 308 variety AR's take a greater beating- at least those used in competitions. Zediker can explain it much better. That's what I meant by "the Service rifle crowd". You know, those folks who consistently shoot groups the size of pie plates at 600yrds with iron sights.
So, check out any one of Zediker's books on the AR, they're all superb. I haven't done any high power matches but would like to in the years to come if ARs aren't outlawed.

Is there a thread on how to turn your AR15 into a single shot hand fed match gun? As I said, it won't "feed" 90 gr bullets. The OP never said he was looking for competetion single shot options. The AR15 is a semi-auto feeding weapon. 90 gr won't feed. .50 BMG is also single shot hand fed, not a standard AR either.

the thread wasn't about what feeds in an ar-15. the OP asked about the buffer stick-on pad and it's intended purpose. i clarified who used it and in what capacity.
