I'm looking at purchasing a Redfield 2x7 variable to mount on my Doublestar flattop AR. Can anyone recommend a good rings/bases combo to mount it with?

I've had good experiences with the burris PEPR base/ring setup on .223 and .308 AR rifles. They are reasonably priced too, around $80 but you can find them on sale for under $70 sometimes. They elevate the scope to the proper height and also move it forward to give you good eye relief, which can be a problem on ARs.

Rock River makes a mount similar to the Burris PEPR, that's a little lower priced. It's one of the few RRA products I like, and it's working well on my LR-308.

I like the RRA Hi-rise Cantalever mount. It is a little cobby looking compared to those at 2 to 3 times the price, but it is very functional, stout, inexpensive, and made in the USA.

burris PEPR base/ring. Great if you want to use the same scope with different uppers.

another happy user of the Burris PEPR. I use it on my 3 gun set up with a Weaver Classic V 1-3x. I used it for about 8 matches without issue. Solid.

Burris Xtreme tactical rings are hard to beat. Just as durable as any ring setup on the market at half the cost. They are picatinny so the rings mount directly to your flattop. I use the extra high with a 40mm objective scope.

You will destroy your scope before you even start to hurt these rings.

I have one of the AR Stoner mounts from Midway on the way, I hope it works out. The Burris PEPR was my other option.

Another vote for the RRA Hi-rise Cantilever mount. I used that mount for my Redfield 2-7 accu-range scope/ Del-Ton 20" upper combo.

Ok, upon looking at the options, it seems the RRA would be suitable, and its price seems agreeable. Is there anything the Burris PEPR mount does "better" than the RRA? Also, does anyone have preferred vendor for the RRA mounts?
