Just ordered a Odin Works complete upper, 6.5 Grendel. I will use this with a Aero Precision lower that I have had for a few months. Initial plan was to get the LaRue brand but I got impatient.

I also recently purchase a Wilson Combat AR10 6.5 Creedmoor barrel and upper receiver. No lowers in stock. After doing some reading, it appears AR10s are not considered mill spec like the AR15s. Wilson Combat advised me to get their lower as well due to fit issues with other brands. Guess I will have to wait till the lowers are in stock.

I may have waited on both of these purchases but no way to know what will be available and at what price after the new regime is in place. (still hoping for a miracle)

Thanks Big Blue. So far, I have only purchased Wilson Combat AR10 parts, and I confirmed with Wilson that the parts would fit. They do not know when the lowers will be in stock. Guess I will have to be patient and check back often.

Generically speaking, there are 2 AR-10 pattern rifles... DPMS and Armalite. Most generic AR-10's are DPMS, but it pays to check the fine print.

I just completed an Aero M5 .308 for my TaeKwon-Do instructor... I was able to scrounge the parts I wanted for it by being patient. I have another M5 upper and lower on the bench... this time it's supposed to be 6.5CM, but I have my doubts... the big hangup is a barrel/BCG headspaced combo.

I was going to build an M5 for me, in .308, but I've put that on hold for now... to concentrate on another AR-15 build. We will see.

If I were you, I would be looking everywhere for magazines... considering.

That is what I'm finding as well. But apparently you can't count on parts of different brands for DPMS being a good fit. Do you agree? Do you have any 1st hand info on Wilson Combat as far as quality? Thanks. Edit: I will look for magazines too. I have a couple of 6.5 Grendel.

Because I picked Aero Precision, everything I got went together very well... lower, upper, forearm and barrel attachment. Nothing really gave me any trouble.

I will tell you the one thing that I didn't do that I wish I would have would have been an adjustable gas block. It has a 16" mid-length barrel and is waaay overgassed in .308.

The one thing I took the trouble and expense to do that helped the most was lapping the upper for the barrel. Without that step, the barrel would not have sat square against the receiver.

Great information. I will make sure I get an adjustable gas block. Did you have a gun smith lap the upper for the barrel?

Thanks Charlie. Great description and pictures. Helps a lot. Only time will tell when the lower is available.
