Hi, I've got a question and I hope you can steer me in the right direction before I spend any money.

I got an eotech 512 for my ar15, and while I like the sight, I don't like the fact that I have to use some sort of tool to reach the buttons. I know there are other, more expensive eotechs, but I like the 512 that's on it and don't want to replace it. It cowitnesses fine with the current rear sight that I use but that rear sight blocks the buttons. Could you recommend another rear sight that flips up but that isn't so tall near the front? I've looked at the Gen2 magpul sights, and they seem shorter, but I don't want to spend money to find out if it'll work if some of y'all already know that answer.

Thanks in advance

Move the EOTech farther forward, and ensure your rear sight is as far back as it can go. A 512 and BUIS are compatible, but not if you have the EOTech too far back. I prefer my EOTech as far forward on the upper receiver as I can get it. I know the 512 is long, but I made it work when I had one.

Out of room. My upper is the psa m4 clone and where it meets the rail the handguard sticks up blocking any further movement forward. That leaves me with trying to get a lower profiled rear sight to free up the buttons with my available rail space. Any other suggestions?

If it helps I'm using a utg rear sight.

Same problem on my wife's AR after I traded into a EoTech. Either get the EoThing with the buttons on the side or a Troy folding rear. I went with the Troy folder.

I just remembered it was in my trunk

Here are the pics. on the closeup (sorry so dark) you can see on the very right that I'm out of forward rail space. Notice how tall the rear is, even when it's down. Therein lies the problem... I can't get to the buttons without a key or knife or bullet or something. Help welcomed.

Maybe attach it to a riser mount? I use the Larue LT110 with an XPS2. Maybe then the Eotech can "float" off the edge of the mount while staying securely attached to the receiver by the LT mount. I also prefer a lower 1/3 co-witness with fixed front sights.

You could also get a fixed rear sight which would not take up as much room. I now use fixed sites with my EOTech setup, and I find I really like it.

Get a Magpul MOE handguard. They are relieved on the top for the first couple inches, just to allow the mounting of a 512 with the battery compartment hanging off the front of the receiver a ways. You should be able to find the handguard for $25 or so. It will be a lot cheaper than a new rear sight or RDS, and they make all sorts of accessories for those handguards.

I think Henschman has the least expensive solution to your problem. MOE handguards will let you hang the EOTech out far enough to reach the buttons.

They're out of stock here, but these are what we're talking about: Link
