Hohoho Merry Christmas ,making a list checking it twice, now I can scratch off the Argy 1909 from it.:pActually I said Merry Xmas to myself twice, but the Mosin Sky M39 is still in route.;)

So I have 2 consecutive Argy 1909 like they just left the factory.Test fired 5 rounds through them but just decided to hold on to them since they are completely blemish free and got this one which is excellent also but with a few slight handling dings, and this one I am going to use as a shooter.

Been watching the auction sites for a while waiting for the right one at a reasonable price and patience paid off.Got ammo and a tall front sight on the way since these tend to shoot high at 100yds.:D

They were meant to shoot high at 100 yards .
They were Battle-Sighted to hit POA at 300 Meters .
Congratulations on your find , That's a rifle you can certainly hold with pride .
Shame we don't see that kind of quality workmanship anymore .

I recently sold one. The 98 action on the Argentines is smooth as butter. Enjoyed mine for years but I'm getting up in years and selling a lot of a 60 year collection off. Kids don't want them. Take good care of it and it will be good 100 yrs. from now.

AKA108,dang man.... the kids just never followed the enthusiasm ugh?Too bad.Moose,no way I would consider sporterizing, contract Mausers are gems specially when in such great shape.

Will follow up with a target report when I can.Now if I can find that right 1891 Argentine I will be happy.Well, then there are the carbines....and all the other South American contract mausers....and the FN and Steyr mausers, and the Serb mausers...oh lordy I am hopelessly down with milsurp fever.;)

That's a beauty!
The '09 Argentine was my first center fire rifle back around 1973, and the first rifle I ever reloaded for. I bought it through the Sears catalog. Ammo too! No FFL... no nuthin'. Just sent them my money and they sent me my rifle. I think it was about $49.

Tried the baby out today, used PP ammo 180gr SP and PP 174gr FMJ.Both shot about the same, surprisingly it shot point of aim at 100yds instead of high.So that tall front sight I ordered is not needed.:D

Would show the 174gr results but some idiot shot my target so I couldn't tell which were mine or the idiot's.
Im very happy with it.
