I sent them all e-mails and got a response.:D

Dear Mr. xxxxx,

I agree with you and will oppose the bill if brought before the committee.

Sincerely,

Rep. Nancy Barto
District 7

dude thanks for the notice, but i dont think i got it in time, but i'll give it my best to call and e-mail these folks

Surely, SURELY this tripe has little to no chance of becoming LAW, right?

By all means, every AZ THRer should contact their reps and tell them to OPPOSE it with everything they have. But from discussing it elsewhere it was looking like it may not even make it out of committee...?

Something tells me this little girl playing politics is writing up all encompassing broad laws that are highly unrealistic and unconstitutional to make a statement in support of the illegals and gain votes from a certain segment of the population. However other mature politicians both Democrat and republican should squash it before it gets off the ground and show her this is not how the big boys conduct politics. The big boys target specific groups individualy one at a time, divide and conquer with multiple laws that are slow to undo and still can gain enough support from those not targeted to have a chance, and if any are overturned, not all are overturned at once as it is done with multiple laws instead of one. Only someone new to the game would try to grab everything, and target every group at once with something that applies to everyone across the board.
Yet you never know when something sinister and all encompassing like this will squeak through unnoticed for what it really is. So you have to make a lot of noise and make sure people realize it covers just about anyone at any time armed with anything, whether it is a stick, pepperspray, a firearm, or something they pick up at random while heading to investigate or be capable of dealing with someone in the process of an illegal act. Someone would have to first investigate something unnarmed and be vulnerable to asses if it warranted being armed, at which point they are now a victim if they cannot get away, and cannot legaly return once out of danger anyways if they can escape. Basicly it outlaws self defense in any but the most random of circumstances. It would conflict with militias, with neighborhood watches, and increase everyones risk both republican and Democrat and conservative or liberal and every shade in between, emboldening criminals and letting them all know as long as they commit crimes in a certain fashion they are immune to public interference.

Its not likely to go through and would be declared unconstitutional if it did and be overruled.

Of course they used similar laws in the 1960s to crack down on the Black Panthers and other groups and it screwed up California ever since.

Buzz, the langloliers are spreading from one section of reality to another and
getting progressively worse....first they chewed up the law field...I tried to
escape them in the healthcare field....but they followed me there....

Sorry thinblackline but I think the langoliers were here before either of us arrived.

That's nice. Perhaps Sinema will eventually define a, er, domestic terrorist as someone who questions her leftwing BS.

Sinema was awarded the "Vladimir I Lenin" award from Arizona Federation of Taxpayers in 2005

Heh...

Its pretty clear to me that the purpose of laws like this is to use the fact that the patriot act sets the pursuit of "terrorists" outside the realm of constitutionally defined law enforcement by eliminating the constitutional protections those accused of terrorism would otherwise have.
Then they redefine all crime as terrorism (already been done against drug traffickers, plus look how RICO has been twisted against people who aren't engaged in racketeering or organized crime) and they don't have to deal with those pesky civil rights anymore.

And yes, as soon as there is another major terrorist attack on US soil, I fully expect political discussion sites (like this one) to be shut down as "terrorist recruiting sites".

biker, you hit the nail on the head about the sex offenders, thanks.I couldnt agree more.

how bout protected status for those border jumping drug runners, the '13 gangs that are starting up everywhere.Sure, can tell where her priorities lay.

Im not suprised, if there is not legal way to out the Minute Men, then paint us as Terrorists, then the soccer moms will vote us away. Id be suprised if this passes, but it will test the waters, and who knows where that will lead. Ive been referred to now as a racist, sexist, elitist, drunken redneck, Rambo, and can add terrorist to that list. If your taking flak you must be over target.

Davo - you're one of the Minutemen? In that case, add another "name" to your list, one I bet you don't hear often enough: I call you a patriot, and a great American! Thank you.

So....girl's name is "Sinema," eh? Am I the only one that wonders if she was named after an "adult" movie studio or something...? :D

If something like Katrina hit and you form an armed neighborhood guard unit to patrol your neighborhood, you are now a terrorist group.

More like if you step outside with a butcher knife to watch out for looters you are a terrorist (as this bill reads).

No profane string of words describes such ridiculous proposed legislation.

There are enough laws on the books to put ANY American away for years. It's just that we're protected from such nonsense by the constitution and a few civil liberties. It should come as no surprise that their latest tactic is to create laws that cast away such obstructions to prosecution. And to make those laws effective in eliminating our defense, they make them broad spectrum and vague so that they can be interpreted and applied at a the drop of a hat.

(What alphabet agency does that sound like?)

Completely unConstitutional, not only the venerable US Constitution, Amendment 2, but Arizona Constitution, Article 2, Section 26,
The right of the individual citizen to bear arms in defense of himself or the state shall not be impaired, but nothing in this section shall be construed as authorizing individuals or corporations to organize, maintain, or employ an armed body of men.
Emphasis added. This law dies on enactment. Legislators contacted.
