Okay, I have heard TONS of people raving about this movie, so the other day I went to Wally World and bought the "director's cut" of the movie on DVD. Apparently it has a different, screwier ending.

I really did like the movie, it's hilarious.

But once I looked it up on the 'net and learned what the other ending is like (the one in S-Mart), I think that sounds a lot cooler.

Anybody seen both? Which ending is better?

Wes

One thing about Ash's shotgun.

When's the last time that Remingtion actually MADE a double barreled side by side? Despite the demand for SXS shotguns from the CAS market, no American company is currenly making basic, rack grade models, to my knowledge.

This, of course, leads to the question: If YOU were going to be transported back into time, and could take one long arm with you (and a car trunk full of ammo/accessories) what would you pick?

LOL

Oh, though to stay within the syle of the movie, one caveat is that it has to have wood furniture. You get bonus points if you pick a manually operated firearm.

Ash's reply to Henry the Red (?) the leader of the Kelts after they were both captured and tied up; "You're now the leader of Jack and $@*&, and Jack just left town."

"Now listen up you primitives!" This is my .............BOOMSTICK!" :D

Fumegator,

You should see the other (original theatrical) version. There are several other minor changes throughout the movie besides the ending, and more than one of them I thought "Hey, I liked the theatrical version better." Fortunately the other one can be had cheaply enough. Oh, and while you're at it pick up a copy of "Evil Dead 2" AOD is the sequel to ED2. It was a remake of Evil Dead and far superior so you can skip the original ED movie.

AOD Theatrical (original) version for $14

Evil Dead 2 for $13

Yeah definitely the theatrical version, Directors cut screwed the movie by taking out a ton of the good parts. IE: "Good? Bad? I'm the guy with the gun."

Ash is essentially supposed to lose no matter what, he is that type of anti-hero I suppose, so the director's cut ending makes more sense, but it is a downer. I like Ash actually winning in the end, so the theatrical ending gets my vote, but I do like the other stuff that was added back in the director's cut.

Actually, the line is
"Now, listen up you primitive screwheads! This is my BOOMSTICK!"

Just a minor point of order from one who has watched that movie entirely too many times, and gleefully used that particular line in a memorable RPG session.

god talk about a cult classic! they have used so much of that movie in other movies too. same props same lines.

fun times sittin around srinkin beer watchin AOD

I one day wish to learn Ash's secret technique of reloading his shotgun with his mind.

The S-mart ending where he jumps onto the cart with the shotgun and blasts the zombie shopper in midair rapid fire style is the highlight of modern cinematography.

From what I remember of the final S-Mart scene the gun was some sort of lever action rifle. My big question for that scene though is why do they keep loaded weapons on the racks?

The theatrical ending is better. However, don't miss out on Evil Dead 1&2. Evil Dead 2 is mostly just a remake of 1, but its more funny where ED1 is more scary.

I got sucked into the Bruce Campbell universe by watching Hercules/Xena in their first seasons. Since then I've watched both Evil Deads and AOD.
There's a high level of inspired goofyness in all of those.

"Groovey!", he said.

Being a transplanted Cheddarhead in Florida...

Will somebody mind telling me what "S-Mart" is? :(

Ah man, you guys are killin' me! I absolutely love the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness movies.

And now I have to go and close this thread for being off topic. Maaaaaaaaaaan...

:(
