looking at a Arsenal SLR106-CR in .223 or a Vector Arms HK clone V93 or a Golani in .223....

I really like the style of the Golani and Arsenal but I may want a non-folding stock. How do folding stocks hold up over time? Do they get loose a ot?

anyone have experience with the Arsenal model listed above?

The golani folder stock is built like a tank. You will not wear it out in normal use. I've had my galils for over 25 years with no problems.

The Galil stock copies the FAL design and is very solid.

My experince to date with the Russian style side-folder like Arsenal puts on the 106s is that it is also quite good. Doesn't look like it has as much potential to loosen up like an underfolder or an East German/Polish/Romanian wire side folder.

At first I was a little miffed at my SLR-106FR side folder stock. It just seemed a little too light to me. I have never dropped it, but it seems to actually work just fine and it nice and tight.

The Vector 93 is a fun rifle to shoot. I really like mine. Two of my friends have blown up their SLR106's. It would be a difficult choice for me but the Arsenal (if it works right) has a lot going for it, including relatively inexpensive magazines. The V93 magazines are EXPENSIVE!

I think the AK is probably a little easier to clean too.

I do not know about the Golani, but suspect the receivers, and have no faith in the Century builds, so for ME, I would shy away from that one.

I have a Century Arms Golani and love it. I have never had a malfunction and it just feels good to shoot. Everyone I know that has a Century Arms Golani loves them. No one has had any problems with them. Century got a bad reputation with the FAL but seems to have solved all their problems now. I also have an Ohio Rapid Fire Golani and it's seems OK. When I got it the magazine would not lock up so I sent it back and waited months before they returned it. I have not shot it but everything seems to lock up OK now. Since I've been shooting the Century Arms I'm going to leave the Ohio NIB in the safe.

I also have a Vector V53 SBR which is great. It shoots as well as the HK 93 I used to have. Someone offered me way too much money for the HK and it's gone.

I have an SLR106FR....truthfully prefer my circa-'78 like-new milsurp Type 53 SKS to any of the guns you listed, including my SLR....more based on construction and reliability than anything else, milled steel receiver, still a bargain while all the others have gone to insane pricing....
