I have an old model 1897 Winchester. I cleaned it and put it back together. It shoots fine. However, the magazine tube does not stay in. It slowly slides back out when pumping the action. It is the break down model and so it has threads to line up and then you turn the tube engaging the threads. I do this, but somehow it just slips out again...like the threads are stripped. They do appear to be in good enough condition to hold but they won't.
What is the problem? How do I fix it?
