"Semiautomatic Assault Weapon Update

By statute, the prohibitions relating to semiautomatic assault weapons and large capacity ammunition feeding devices expired on September 13, 2004. As a result, certain sections of the Gun Control Act, 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44, and its implementing regulations, 27 CFR Part 478, are no longer in effect."

Ok, now why does it say "Certain sections..."??????

Shouldn't ALL sections of the act have expired???

Chill, dude: The AWB was an amendment to the GCA, which is the root law

The AWB amendment goes poof, but the root law, the part that's NOT the AWB remains.

To all those who said I was crazy for saying this would happen and those who said the Republicans would sell us out....

:D

Time to get crackin' on the rest of it! :D

And an extra for everyone who thought LE-marked rifles and magazines would somehow remain verboten: "Existing markings on firearms and magazines relating to law enforcement or government use may be disregarded." :D

Think I'll make that my new sig for a while...

Ahem...now didnt some jerk just tell me today that LEO marked mags would be covered by ATF rulings Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

I blew a burst of about 50 rounds throuth the Commando to celebrate, using aln LEO MARKED BETA MAG BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

I thought about blasting of 40 round through my HK93 but I figured my neighbors might not understand my exuberance. :D :D

For the record, I'm still half expecting the Republicans to betray us on this. AFTER the election, in the lame duck session. I sure didn't expect it to happen right before we had an opportunity to take our vengence at the polls.

Hm, wonder if there's any prospect of new magazines becoming available for my Calico now?

Congratulations are in order all around; this is a happy day!

But as a Californian, I have to remind everyone (oh, I guess I wouldn't have to remind *this* crowd) that now, more than ever, they need to keep close tabs on their state legislatures. We've already seen instances where states or even cities are trying to get their own AWBs. The one in California is very strong, and unless LA and the Bay Area fall into the ocean (I know, don't you all wish) there is almost no way to get rid of it.

That is the problem with going out on a limb for gun owners. Half the time, when they stick their necks out to do the right thing they still don't get credit.

We should be sending TOM DELAY money for sticking to his, umm, guns. He is the man and has he made us a little bit more free today.
