Does the BATF get involved in non-fed firearms laws?

Say no federal law is broken, but state laws are--do they respond?

(An example I would think of would be California's ban on 50 caliber rifles. Would a citizen be persacuted byt CA DOJ only or would the BATFE get involved?)

If so, do other Fed Beauracrats get involved in state law violations too?

Yep, just as the DEA gets involved in non-fed drug enforcement actions.

State and local departments seem a little too willing to invite federal storm troopers into their jurisdictions to kick in doors and haul people off.

I read about it in my county every few weeks. Most notably, this spring the ATF was involved in a large scale bust on an illegal gambling operation. Whoa...thanks for putting your life on the line to safeguard my community against...horseracing.

Strangely though, the federal immigration police are nowhere to be seen! Curious, isn't it?

Yep. Just like in LA with the unlawfull raids they do, the leather maker busted for making holsters for compact guns, and the Chitcago gestapo going door to door

Yeah, I just saw that thread about LA.

Man, that's a shame. It's also sad they don't even see how wrong that is. I guess even the Gestapo guys got excited about promotions...

Yea Chitcago PD is going thru the FOID card list, and also has acess to all ATF multiple gun purchase forms from across the country.

WHat I dont like is St. Louis county, and other counties in the surronding area using a computer program called "crime matrix" which also stores gun purchase permits for handguns. Problem is the Feds including the ATF have access to this computer program and can view the information. So the ATF can have a little "look see"
