I am considering buying one of these just as a fun range toy. I don't really like the look of the 16" barrel though. Is there a barrel shroud or fake suppressor I can add to it so it looks more like the GSG-5 barrel? I have seen some barrel shrouds and fake suppressors listed on some websites, but I am not sure what is compatible with this particular MP5 Clone

The MKE AT-94 is built to exact specs as the original HK-94 with the one exception being that the AT-94 has a slightly thicker barrel than the HK-94 and other clones. Most fake suppressors that are designed to fit on an HK-94 will not fit over the barrel of the AT-94.

However you are in luck because the folks at E&L Manufacturing do sell fake suppressors and barrel shrouds that will work with the AT-94 clones.

As I understand it, the AT94 uses a proprietary 10 round magazine, and will not accept HK94 magazines. Is that correct?

Yes, that's why many went with the AT94 pistol and then added 922r compliance parts. The pistols where allowed to come in and use regular mp5 mags so conversions where dirt simple. The AT94 carbines, to be imported, have a "bar" that only allows for a proprietary 10 round mag; however there are some that have milled the "bar" out, added 922r parts and can now run mp5 mags.

I'd buy the pistol if anyway possible, they are drying up. I think MKE stopped sending them for some reason and I don't know if they will resume shippments or not.

ATI announced that they would not order another shipment for a few reasons.

1: MKE informed them that the price for them would be going UP
2: ATI was already spending even more money than that keeping them importable and legally sellable in the US.
3: It wasn't selling well in the first place. Apparently just not enough people out there willing to spend over $1K for a 9mm carbine when there's pistol caliber carbines for less than half that on the market.

As Kurt-D pointed out the best option is to get the AT-94P and convert it into a rifle by following 922r guidelines. It's very easy to do because there are plenty of US made parts available for the HK94. The reason ATI imported the AT-94 as a pistol with an 18" barrel was so that it could accept standard high cap MP5/HK94 mags. It also allowed the owner of one to convert into rifle form legally if you kept it 922r compliant however FYI once you turn it into a rifle then it is illegal to convert it back to pistol form.

I still want to pick up the AT-94K before they disappear from the market. If ATI stops importing theses guns then their value is going to go way up the same way the HK94 did after importation of those ceased.

Here's how my AT-94P came when I got it....

Here it is after I converted it to a rifle....
