I think I might want to buy a "ATN Aries MK350 Guardian 1st Generation Night Vision Compact Rifle Scope" for an AR. My problem is I dont know much about night vision, does anyone know if it would be safe to use such a device during the daytime? Are there any Night vision Scopes that allow you to turn off the night vision?

I know next to nothing about night vision, except.
* Gen 1 scopes are next to useless.
* If you turn them on in direct sunlight, you will fry the image intensifier.
* They all run on batterys, so yes, there is a switch to turn them off & on.

Like the one above state, 1st Gen is practically useless. You should be looking at something 3rd Gen. ATN is OK but there are better ones out there. ITT and Morovision are much better. The only reason you see ATN a lot is becuase they promote their stuff a lot more then others. They are cheap so everyone can afford them which is why you find their stuff in a lot of stores. You cant go cheap with optics, and night vision, lets just say plan on spending more on the optics then your AR
