Great -- so the government "targets" legitimate, licensed recreational gunowners and forcibly removes their handguns based on an arbitrary measure of barrel length, calibre and shot capacity.:banghead: However, they "allow" shooters to have .45s for "approved" matches -- which will probably only be Single Action (Western) and Handgun Metallic Silhouette.
(bad luck for you blokes shooting IPSC or Service Match!)
Meanwhile, gangs of "ethnic kids" (trying to be PC) carry illegal handguns routinely, are caught on security video using them -- and get away with a "warning" from the magistrate! (True incident) And are these friearms stolen from licensed owners?? Sure they are -- NOT! Not too many people I know use .25 Jennings or similar for competitive target shooting!
And the twerp from Gun Control Australia says the problem could be solved overnight if the government simply had the guts to ban all semi-auto handguns!!

I'm reminded of the 1984 Orwellian 'Proles' :-
Nature of Life for the Proles
- “Nobody cares what the proles say†(p11).

- Lived with much crime and drugs.
- They followed their own code of morals, not ones dictated by the Party.
- Free to be promiscuous, to have a religion, to divorce, and none of these went with punishment.

that millions of Proles remain alive (p89).
- The younger proles were fooled into buying things that they thought were pornographic and illegal, but which were not (p137).
- Songs were published for the benefit of the Proles by a sub-section of the Music Department without any human intervention but instead by a versificator (p144). Music
was therefore made by a machine rather than by a human, illustrating the absence of care from the Party toward the Proles.

kneecapping -- a delightful punishment consisting of a bullet fired at touching distance, from behind or in front of the knee joint, through the joint itself (and, hence, through the "kneecap").
Makes a hell of a mess, hugely painful, and the victim ain't never gonna win a prize in the marathon again ..... can also be done with a cordless power drill and a 1/2-inch drill bit.

When living in Brisbane, Aus. a few years ago I once heard that for the sum of $2000 you to can hire your own Hells Anglesque bikie to conduct a 'knee-capping' on your enemy of choice.
