I'm sure many of you, like myself, have some gun books written by R. L. Wilson. Well, he's now a guest of los federales and when he's released, will go to Kain-Tuck for another trial. Guess he has plenty o' time to write more books now. Forbes online

Thank goodness gun prices will now be comming down again. See I knew them old beat up colts weren't even worth the price of scrap. Can't wait to pick up a few $5 walkers now.:neener:

I heard this some time back. It's sad news. I suppose it means he won't be writing any more collector gun books, and that's sadder too. :(

So which was he--"befuddled" or a con artist who revelled in snookering people?

I don't recall James Serven or George Madis ever being accused of unethical behavior, and they did as lot for the gun collecting fraternity. Wilson could have done very well for himself without cutting corners.

Pretty hard to get into a federal prison without a lot of effort.

I believe he is out at the moment preparing for trial in Louisville KY. He has already served his 0ne-year sentance.

It seems to me that once, maybe twice, it could be an honest mistake by a befuddled collector/appraiser.

The multiple allegations against him would certainly seem to indicate a pattern of intent to defraud, to me.

I met him once (25 years back?) at a guys backyard bbq. He brought his M16 that colt had given him after he wrote something that they liked. We tore the living <deleted> out of the guys firewood pile. We were shooting in a perfectly safe direction but there was hell to pay with the neighbors over the noise!
He seemed to be a decent guy but I guess he let greed overtake his life
