Their is an article in todays Columbus Dispatch about a proposed ban on assault weapons.

Their is a open meeting of the Columbus City Council on November 4 at 5:00 PM in City building, second floor. ID is required to enter.

I am contacting as many people as I can to try and fill up the seats(all 250 of them) with pro gun people who are against this ban.

If any one here on THR lives in Columbus or Central Ohio please show up to help protest this ban.

Sincerely,

Daniel Davis

:banghead: :cuss: When are they gonna leave us alone?

Don't know if this has become public knowledge yet, but council has postponed this meeting. It will be later, not on the 4th. It will probably be late November or in December. I'll try to keep you informed as to the new date when it becomes available.

regards,
Steve

Thank you.

I got a call from Wyatt Kingsteed at the City Councils office today and he told me it may be postponed but its not certain yet.

I'm calling him back next tuesday or wednesday to confirm with him. The City Council phone number is 614-645-7380.

I was also told that only police officers would be allowed to speak at the meeting to express their opinions on the proposed ban.

I have contacted PRO, NRA, and OFCC to let them know whats going on and that I am willing to volunteer my time to help fight it if they want me to.

I live in Columbus, and will help you fill up the seats!

I write for The OSU Sentinel, a conservative OSU student paper strongly opposed to gun control. We have many active members and can help get the word out to generate more.

Please keep me updated and I will help in anyway I can.

sorry,I missed the article, dont get that paper.
what are they trying to do..ban evil guns in the city like cleveland burbs(if you dig ,youll find out some crap things they did up there awhile back as well)I had heard something to that effect about a year ago from a collector while I worked in columbus, one could buy certain guns just outside the city and inside the city one had to go through a hassle at a gunstore.dunno if it was true but my source seemed poed enough with the crap the store gave him so he went about 15 miles away and got what he wanted there.
looks like another push going on for a statewide ban...smells like crap.

Its not 'certain guns', it is all guns. If the gunstore is within the city limits, the city requires some manner of license. This is a one-week PITA that no one wants to have to do, so they do all of their shopping at gunstores outside of the corporate limits. Because of this, there are very few gun stores still inside the city (there are some), but quite a few in township areas that are completely surrounded by the city.

sorry dude, I'd be there, but I moved from New Albany to Tennessee in May because of taxes and guns.

Post a sign in the NASR and the powder room and i'm sure you'll get your 250 people.

I don't want to be the village neg-boy, but Columbus is going to get a lot worse before it gets better (if it ever does).

Ya I have that feeling also. I've already talked with my wife about it if we can't stop the City Council from passing it we're going to move just outside the city limits.

The downside is we just signed another 1 year lease on our apartment last week.

I will be calling them this Tuesday or Wednesday to see if they are still meeting Thursday. I called the NRA on Friday to let them know about it but they didn't appear real concerned. They are wrapped up in the national elections right now. Perhaps after that they will help out.

talive ---Tennessee is starting to sound good. Whats the job situation like down their?

a liscence to buy any gun..geesh..no wonder he was poed.seems rather ridiculous to force one to have a lisc to buy a gun in one city and drive 10-15 minutes away in the same state and its oky doky to get whatever. without having to have a lisc.incidently..it was a kimber 1911,not some ar or something which was another gripe going on within the city by some other friends getting hassled after getting an ar..that is another thing that has been going on now too.the whole deal sounds like us ohioans need to tell em where to put their antigun views...I also heard that mags holding 31 rounds and up makes you an instant criminal if the mag is placed in the gun and you dont have a class 3 weapon or tax stamp.

You could have two gunshops across the street from one another. One is in the City and one is in the Township. One has a license requirement and one does not.

Guess which one will go under? ;)

And yeah, its perfectly legal to own a gun in the city that you bought in the township.

Its stupid.
