21 years ago, Mr. Elvin Olson got a patent for a "slingbow" that included the concept shown here. He must be seen as the original inventor.

Of course the slingshot presented here has been enhanced and strengthened very much. This is a design that can be used with the strongest bands out there, and has been optimized for the hands of strong adults. It is made 100% from stainless steel. And since it does not have an arm support, just a hand brace, it is legal in countries like Germany.
