a little bit interesting find in an attac. My father in law was helping clean out his mother in laws house and found a box that has a new still packed in factory grease "b c miroku 38spl. revolver". I did a little bit of searching and only found one for sale on gun broker that is "used" not "NIB" any help with value for this would be great. We know it belonged to my father in laws grandfather who passed about 40 years ago. currently all the info I have.
Thanks

From what I gather Miroku has made some very high quality firearms for so very well known Brands. I've seen these and have been intrigued by them. Would they be like a Honda of snubby revolvers

Miroku manufactured revolvers for the Japanese police and a few were imported into the U.S. in the early 1960's. They appear to be well made but are quite rare here.

I am not sure about value, since they sell so rarely, but the price on the used one should be an indication. There is little collector interest, though there probably should be.

Jim

If I'm not mistaken it should be the size of the older Smith "I" frame revolver. Just a tad smaller than a J frame.

Miroku - NIB.

I came across one that looked exactly like a colt detective special.

Looks like that one of dreamers looks like a Colt Police Positive or something of that sort.

Based on Gunbroker, etc.... I think you are high - my guess would be $250 to $500 depending on the condition - got mine NIB before "the election" and gave less - now with the price of guns maybe it is more?

Here is a recent thread concerning value and specifically the Liberty Chief - also cites the production numbers -

http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3449258

the one I have is a Colt copy right down to how the cylinder locks up - I like it - :)

All the best.

Yes, I agree with dreamer56. I have seen them on Gunbroker for the last year or two noticed a relative discount to a similar S&W model. While a good gun, they seem to trade at discounts because they are relatively unknown. All the marks of a good value buy.

Glad to do it - wish I knew a little more about them - just have not had the chance to do anymore research -

Really like the pressure rating test card that was in mine - and the "satin" in the box - just think they are pretty good copies of Colt - I could have had 2 of them but only bought one - bummer, what was I thinking?

Have a good day.

well the story gets better. From some more poking for awnsers it seems this may not even be an import model. As it turns out he may have bought it when he was overseas in the service. from what I understand the box is just a box with no "satin lining". I may have to repost this in a few months when I get a chance to see it first hand.

Interesting - for sure, when you get to see it take the digital cam along and get some pics to post - I would like that.

Hang on to it! The money you make will be gone quickly and later you be thinking why did you sell great grandpa's gun.

I'm new to the forum, so, Hi y'all!

I have Miroku .38 spl that looks just like the one dreamer56 bought. Inherited from my dad (it was the last revolver he bought - probably back in the 1970s) and it's still in excellent condition & has had precious few rounds put through it.

However, when I got it, there wasn't any reference material with it at all, and I've been trying to research it online. I've had very limited success.

I normally carry and shoot 9mm, but I'd like to use this little revolver as well. I've been trying to figure out what's the better ammo to put through it, both for plinking and SD. Will it take +P? Nearly all the threads I find talking ammo for a .38 spl are referring to snubbies and this has a 4" barrel.

Any suggestions would sure be appreciated.
