I've been reading and searching for a couple days and have found some good threads but want a little more input.

I'm in search of a messenger bag or soft sided briefcase. I'm needing a bag to serve multiple purposes if possible I'd like to just have one but could handle 2 bags. One would just make logistics easier.

My first use will be work related; transporting papers, files, and possibly a laptop.

Another will be a travel bag. Something I can place a pistol in and sit on the seat next to me for easier access than an IWB holster while drivingespecially on long trips.

It'll also be a grab and go bag. Used either in case of an emergency phone call to grab it and go or if I'm just running across town for a burger and I'm in sweats. It'd be easier to just grab a bag thats already stocked than to change, put on a holster, etc.

This in no way will replace normal carry methods only supplement them. It will also rarely be out of my possesion so theft is not as great of concern.

I'm not needing a full BOB. That's being built another day and will reside full time in my truck.

This will be a lightweight pack. Mainly containing a light, knife, pepper spray, a fullsize hand gun and a couple extra mags.

The research I've done into bags runs a wide range. I've seen everything from $20 messenegr bags on Amazon to $200 custom CCW brief cases. What would you guys recommend for a bag? It is going to be carried into a business casual workplace daily.

I sold my CountyComm BOB simply because it didn't provide adequate protection for my laptop. I went to an Ogio Manipulator and love it so far. It has as many, or maybe more, pockets as the CountyComm and has what they call a "Brain Box" to protect your laptop. Not sure if this is what you are looking for but it is a very well made bag and suits my needs perfectly.

My SO uses an MPB for office work, field work, and travel:

The bag looks 'professional' enough for her meetings downtown, but it still has lots of storage and is extremely durable - it has way outlasted a slew of other bags that got chewed up in the field. It has tons of built-in pockets and modular capability, but it still looks very clean. The main compartment is large enough to be used as an overnight/weekend/carry-on bag.

Maxpedition makes 'universal' holster that can be attached to a divider in the bag:

The only real drawback is that it's not long enough to hold legal files. If it was, I'd own one myself. :)
