Baikal moving from EAA to Remington?

I heard from my dealer today that he'll no longer be able to get Baikal shotguns from EAA. He says they've told him that the Baikal distributorship has been taken over by Remington, who will distribute the Baikal range under the name of "Spartan", a company they've set up to handle low-end shotguns.

Has anyone heard anything more about this? There's nothing listed on the Spartan Web site (see here) or at EAA.

Can't confirm.

I have handled both , side by side. Other than the markings and some minor differences - same gun.

Not sure why go "exclusive" they seem to do okay on their own.
