Ballistic Software

I did a search on Ballistics Software and found one thread nearly a year old with limited discussion. So how about it, can anyone recommend a good "external ballistics" computer software package? I DON'T want anything that has to be downloaded from the net. Just got rid of some nasty viruses by reformatting my hard drive and loading everything from scratch. Don't want to do that again.
Would like the software to use input data including velocity from chrono and calculate/plot trajectories, drift, down range values, various charts/graphs, etc. Software MUST handle pistol AND rifle.

I know you said you don't want to download anything, but I got RemShoot off of Remington's webpage, virus free, and it is pretty useful. It only has factory loads however. Are you wanting this for particular calibers that you handload or what?

Thanks much for the heads up. I have a long running fascination with the mystery of ballistics. It's going to take me awhile to sort through all that info.

Just an aside LHB1...

Before you stop downloading from the net because of viruses, think about why you got a virus in the first place. Getting yourself a good anti-virus program should be a priority as well as learning to avoid suspicious content. Dowloading from Remington (A well known name) and www.firstlinkoffgoolgeforfreestuff.com is like buying a car at a dealership or buying it from a back-alley guy named Moe.

The software is pretty cheap and can often be gotten for free when you buy a new piece of hardware if you shop smart. My Dad went through the same "fear factor" and I told him he was being ridiculous. You don't walk out into the rain without an umbrella, why would you download anything without a virus checker? He hasn't downloaded a single virus in 3 years since buying virus software.

Thanks for the info. I will check out these sources. My problem seems to be finding a user friendly piece of software. I spent 30 years in the computer software field and get real turned off by software that is cumbersome and difficult to use. No offense but too many of these systems appear to be designed with little thought of the user involvement required. I don't use this software every week and don't want to spend a long time relearning how to use it each time. Years ago I used PC Bullet (DOS days) but it is no longer available. Just haven't found a simple system that meets my needs.

ps: I do have a top brand virus checker, updated and used regularly, but as you know their capabilities are limited basically to finding known viruses. My virus problem came about when a snooper used a back door weakness in MS Win XP operating system to get in and change some settings in my machine. Prevented me from updating my operating system using Windows Update site. Let several little nasties in before I slammed them all by reformatting hard drive. Drastic measure but it did the job!
