Here's an e-mail a friend sent me, thought it was interesting

Subject: Physician warning

Doctors:

(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.

(C) Accidental deaths per physician are 0.171 (17.1%)
Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept. of Health Human Services.

****************************************

Guns:

(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. Yes, that is 80 million.

(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.

(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.000188 (.00188%).

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do"

Fact: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand.

Out of concern for the public at large, I have withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention.

like Ted Kenndy's car, doctors have killed more people the my two guns.

My brother-in-law, an ER doc, started residency and they basically told the class that, "Virtually every one of you will accidentally kill a patient before you finish here." :what:

I may not have the quote exactly right, but I got the jist.

Reassuring huh?

Yep, and to add insult to injury a very large percentage of Medical Doctors are vehemently Anti Gun! :barf:

My sister, who also resides in MA, sent me those figures on email approximately three weeks ago. I'll check if she is aware of the source.

You could do a quick search on this site. This pops up every couple of months and I am sure that someone had a source on one of the postings.

I wonder if doctors get asked 'Are you a part of an HMO' as much as I get asked 'Are you a part of the NRA'.

When I practice with my guns it's not on people. Unfortunately Dr.s do practice on people and sometimes don't get it right. :(

In my experience the frequency with which something is posted on the internet is inversely related to the actual truth of it's contents.

I'm not buying this one until I can see the actual source. And I REALLY doubt that it is going to present itself (cause its made up).
