The barrel on my new Stevens model 200 .223 was getting pretty warm with all of the prairie dog shooting the other day so I fixed it. I got a 22-250 just like it to ride along with us! What a shooter. I couldnt get it to group with h380 and 38g's powder so I tried 40g's. That did the trick. A tack driver with Nosler 52g BTHP's. Now, where's those 2 p dogs i missed yesterday. Should be a great combo for the hunts.

I have been known to carry a bottle of C02 around with me to cool things off a bit. It takes less than a minute of running that gas through the bore to take a hot barrel down to the ambient tempeture or even less. It can keep you shooting a long , long time.

Given the same rifle, that 22-250 is going to heat up even faster than the .223:what:

Yea i know it will heat faster but i thought getting it to shoot while the 223 cooled was about as good excuse that i could come up with. Between the 2 of them, i should be good for a few rounds. :)
