Ok, so this has probably been hashed over before... if it has, pardon my ignorance.
I'm not exactly thrilled with the selection of multi-barrel (exchangeable) barreled firearms that I've been able to locate.
If one were to start with a heavy duty break action firing mechanism- say for a 45-70, what would it cost per barrel to make additional barrel chamberings ?
Has any gunsmith hereabouts ever started such a project ?
My main reservation on current designs is that they seem to be fairly restricted in terms of rifle chamberings, are all offered in synthetic based designs, and have few if any rifle length barrels for pistol cartridges.
In a nutshell, I'm envisioning a single break action firing mechanism with as many interchangeable caliber variations as is possible, utilizing a wood body.
While some may not see the wisdom or purpose of this, I for one, do !
