BB gun lawsuit
By JULIE SCHLABS, Staff Writer
July 3, 2003

A boy visiting San Angelo was shot in the eye with a BB gun in July 2001, and his mother is going to the courts for relief.

According to court records, a young boy and his friend were playing with their BB guns in a living room. One of the boys pulled the trigger, documents state, but he didn't aim at his friend. The BB ricocheted and lodged into the other boys' left eye, where the fated BB remains.

The mother of the injured boy filed a civil suit this week in district court against the gun manufacturer and the hardware store that peddled the weapon. She's asking the court to award damages and attorney fees.

The suit charges that the two businesses breached products liability and negligently violated industry standards by failing to adequately warn of the dangers of the toy gun.

''The product was marketed as being less powerful than a real gun when it actually possessed power far above that which is reasonable and necessary for its intended use as a 'safer than real' gun. . . . '' the suit stated.

Another "sue happy" something for nothing probably fatherless children single mom mad at the world ................etc. etc. It says right on the box lady, DO NOT POINT AT ANYONE OR ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY ! As far as I am concerned a BB gun is a training aid for raising responsible, independent young adults, not for an absurd lawsuit.

It's another McD's Spilled Coffee Suit.

Everyone who deserves to continue living knows that BB guns aren't real firearms, and that they're not "toys" either.

General Rant Aimed @ Such Folks:

Please, for the love of all that's good and decent, people, keep your stupidity to yourselves. It's EMBARASSING, but ya'll are too stupid to even realize it. Have at least a shred of pride and dignity about yerself.

The marketing department shot the kid, right?

Unsupervised children playing with guns in the living room. Where is the appropreit federal government agency "to protect the children"...

Apparently the children haven't ever seen "Christmas Story"

Anybody involved in this case (other than the defense) should be tarred and feathered in the town square.

Quoting:

It's another McD's Spilled Coffee Suit.

No it's not. The BB gun lawsuit is frivilous.

The "spilled coffee suit" was NOT. Please stop spreading a lie. The victim suffered 3rd degree burns to her vagina after being handed a cup of coffee at a temperature that can only be described as a biohazard.
