Guys,

I've loaded 1000's of the old 147 grain cast bullets (with lube groove), both lubed and coated without an OAL of 1.130 without an issue. Recently got in 3K of the "new" coated 147s (no lube groove) and I cannot seat them out past 1.100" in several of my 9mms. I suspect the ogive has changed. Pistols I've tried

HK P30L
HK VP9
Walther PPQ (very tight chamber/throat) Requires 1.095" to fit

The only pistol I have that will fit the new bullet style at 1.130 is my S&W M&P 5" Pro(s). Anybody else seeing this??? Are you just seating them deeper?

I've fired off and email to BBI, and am waiting for a response.

Thanks,

Chuck

Update (for prosperities sake):

Heard back from BBI, suggesting an OAL of 1.090 which about mirrors my findings in my Walther's chamber. Since SAAMI specs are a minimum of 1.000" there's no issue as long as they feed. I loaded 30 up last night, and will try them out this afternoon.

I usually load the bullet as long as I can within SAMMI limits and still have it work correctly in every pistol I have running that cartridge.

Most of my 9mm ammo is loaded with an OAL of between 1.125" and 1.110" but that is dependent on bullet style and shape.

Agreed, but these "new" 147s are a whole different animal due to the ogive/nose profile. If I load to my pistol with the shortest throat, then 1.095" it is. I don't want to bother loading different lots to fit individual pistols on ammo I go through 12-13,000 rds a year of.
