Went to the Knoxville TN gunshow. It was large and well attended although there was more non gun related stuff than usual.

The good: The only S&W 940 I have ever seen outside of a catalog.
The bad: seller wanted $575.
The silly: a used S&W model 65 4" price $500.
The silly2: a used Colt Python 6" price $1250.
The tempting: the best S&W model 18 I have seen price $450.

I had my oldest S&W a 1959 model 12 airweight 2" in original box (about 90%). I was looking for either a 45 colt mountain gun or a Colt Diamondback. One seller looked at it and said (with a straight face) "You'll probably have trouble selling a gun that old but I'll give you $100 for it."

I ran into a friend looking to sell his dad's Winchester model 12 in excellent shape. His best offer so far :$75.

Not a Diamondback or 45 colt mountain gun to be seen. Oh well maybe next time.

where are the k-ville shows at? ive got a friend that will give me free rooming in k-ville. ive wanted to check them out up there see if there's anything different than the nashville shows. when's the next one. Maybe have to get me and maybe darrin if he's willing to come up from good old nashville for it. i like looking at guns i cant afford :D

I hope you set this idiot straight! It makes me angry that they think this way. Like everyone would fall for that. I guess enough people have that they can get away with it though. Slime-bucket car salesmen, that's what they are. I've been to one gunshow in my life and it was my last.

The Knoxville shows are held at either the Jacob building at Chillhowee park which is off I-40 in East Knoxville, or at the I-75 Expo center off I-640 in North Knoxville. I prefer the I-75 center (at least in summer) because it is better lighted, has wider aisles and is air conditioned. That said, I seem to have better luck at the Jacob building site. There is another show at the Jacob building site I think, the weekend of the 26th.

I didn't argue with the idiot who offered me $100 for the model 12. I have found it generally useless to do so. Don't get me wrong, If I offer something for sale that you have no interest in then just tell me you're not interested but don't insult me by offering a lowball price. I have found that usually the dealers will do this but the "collecters" tend to be the sharks.

I was browsing the I-75 show today.

You know you're getting old-fashioned when you walk across a gun show with black rifles everywhere, and the most exciting thing you see is the SMLE No.1 Mark III for $150.

I took my 1911 to a gunshow to find out some info on it and get a value for the friend that gave it to me. It was part of her fathers estate and she had to write it off with her brother.

Almost every person I showed it to said they would give me $250 for it. Finally found a guy who had a fair number of 1911's who looked up the serial #. This pistol was delivered to the arsenal in San Antonio on Christmas Eve of 1913. Is still in original finish and in very good condition.

One dealer offered me $800 for it, that is still low but closer.

Dealers will try to make the best deal they can. They are in business to make money and they will try anything they can to legally steal your goods.

Know what your goods are worth before you sell them. Buyer, and seller, beware.

You should've come on Sunday...

... I had a Beretta AR-70 and a 3-screw Single Six in the red cardboard box with an unfired/unturned .22 WMR cylinder out for sale... :D

I wish I had gone on Sunday. I started to but had family visit. I wish I had bargained with the guy selling the 940 more. Prices do sometimes change on the second day. Tamera, have you ever been to Farnsworth's Firearms in Vonore? They have the best assortment of old and odd firearms I have seen in this area. I almost bought a nice P-14 Enfield there after the gunshow. They also have an indoor range.
