Yesterday I was able to get out to the range and test fire 11 first time loaded ammo:

.40 180gr copper plated with 4.5 gr of Hodgdon Titegroup. 1.130 OAL

I was honestly surprised with the accuracy difference between these and WWB.

Thank you all who had helped me. I have now loaded 100rds of the same caliber as well as started to setup 9mm 124gr copper plate.

Press Setup: Lee Classic Turret Kit from Kempf, balance from the internet as well as a cheap caliper.

Congrats!! It is kinda satisfying. If you shoot enough it will start to pay for itself. Just be sure of the powder charges( none or double ). Get a system and go slow to start. Happy reloading.

Great job! I remember how good it felt to shoot my first rounds. You might want to get yourself a chronograph so you can see how fast they're going - it's one of my favorite toys.

cskelly,

Welcome to the club! Feels good, doesn't it?

I also had a first today. Today was the first time that I loaded a large batch of ammo, .40SW as a matter of fact.

Previously, I had been working up loads for .45 auto, but those loads aren't working for me, and I'm waiting on some more parts to continue. So, last night, I loaded some .40SW with a recipe that I had tried last year. It worked great.

Today, after the range session, I decided to do a batch of about 400 .40SW. It's nice to know that I can make something that works.

Keep learning and loading. It only gets better.

Welcome to the world of reloading..... I'm sure you will get addicted as the rest of us are..... I reload for almost every caliber I shoot except oddball stuff like 7.62 X 25, 9 X 18.... etc....
