Hello all,
I just bought a 16ga from a friend, and am looking for some info on it.
The maker is J.B. Ronge, and I have read elsewhere that they operated in Liege Belgium, from about 1850 to 1920, or somewhere in there. Some dates have been contradictory, so I dont know for sure. I have seen one or two for sale online, with a value of about 1500, but they seemed to be much more nicely finished guns, with gold plating and inlay. This is a box lock, with decent scroll work, but does not look as high quality as the other Ronge guns I've seen, leading me to suspect it was an economy model, or apprentice piece of some sort. It actually shoots very well, as long as you can remember to disengage the safety between clays. The spring is a little weak, and the recoil knocks it back to safe after almost every shot. Lets see, 30in barrels, marked in English Choke 17.0, SN 126xxx, with a heckuva lot of proof stamps all over. Anyhow, if anyone has any info about the maker or the gun, I'd love to know it.
Thanks,
Matt

The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.
