For those that don't know, the Brinkmann Maxfire LX, at $17 at Target or even $20 at Wally World, is one of the best bargians in a tactical light, IMO. And from what I read of the Surefire "press temporary, TWIST permanent" switch, I think the Brinkmann's simple "one push on and off" setup is even better!

So, I thought I could just waltz into a store (Mahoney's) and come out with a decently "improvised" belt holder for my Brinkmann. Maybe a nylon double-stack mag holder?

Er - nope! Gun dept sent me to the knife dept, which sent me downstairs to the camping/boating store...nada.

It actually CAME with a belt sheath, but an "el cheapo" one where the belt loop shortly ripped off of it...

Suggestions?

I would want a Kydex holder from Comptac, but they do not make one for it. Maybe with enough requests though. I wonder how close a 6P holster would fit.

Check out your local Boy Scout Shop. They have a few different sheaths for knives which will probably work for you.

I bought a knife sheath from my local Scout Shop to use with my Inova X5 or my Cyclops Xenon XCF flashlight. The shealth can be attached to your belt vertically or horizontally. Mine cost $6.20 and it is well made with quality materials.

I bought a cheap nylon belt holster with flap on it at the PX. Cut the flap off and it fit in there tailcap first. Wore it like that for months every day until I switched to a streamlight.

Enjoy the day

They are nearly Identical in size to the G2 surefire, almost any cop shop on the net will have a usable belt holster, many may have combined light and spare mag holders.

I have one too - Almost as bright as my Scorpion. You can barely tell the difference.

Brinkmanns

OMG, its a POS..no impact resistance at all, the bulb shatters
easily and they want 13 bux replacement. theres a 34 dollar
LED replacement though reportedly more robust.

When I called them they wanted $5 per bulb replacement.

A brand new Brinkmann with cheap holster and 2 batteries runs the same price as a Surefire replacement lap assembly.

I have not found the Brinkmann to be a POS by any means.....

Now did your post have anything to do with Brinkmann holsters?

Here is the review for the flashlight:

From that review

READER UPDATE: From George T.:

I have successfully been using my 2 Maxfire LX flashlights in night handgun courses at Front Sight and they work beautifully. I use the SureFire V70 holster.

READER UPDATE: From Andrew J.:

The main reason I wrote was to share with you that I have found that the Brinkman Maxfire LX fits very well into the Stallion Leather Gear American Warrior Nylon compact flashlight holder "model SFR-AW" . I took my Maxfire down to the local uniform store and tried it in several belt holsters after I was shall we way, less than overwhelmed with the the quality of the holster supplied with the light. To be fair the Stallion holster is snug when the light has it's rubber grips in place, but it's certainly workable, and the top flap snaps securely.

Much-delayed update!

FINALLY!

The Maxpedetion holder was on backorder when I put in my order (about when I made the last post here), but it arrived tonight!

First impression is that it's a bit of a snug fit, but maybe it needs "breaking in" first. The thick cover flap protects all of the rather "fat" head of my Maxfire. Nice, big belt loop in the back that looks pretty durable. Haven't worn it very long but seems pretty comfy so far. One plus is the way the light fits in the holster, it looks like it'd be hard to accidentally click it on while wearing it.
