Shipwreck,

Sorry about the medical problems. I can understand them as I have had my share as well. Right now my duty gun is an H&K P2000 in .40 S&W. My agency announced we are going over to the GLOCK and I am looking forward to it, as it will be lighter and still kick less. Have you tried a different belt and holster arrangement. One of my coworkers complained of back pains and was allowed to switch to a nylon belt and holster.

Well, with the lighter gun, I have no issues. I just can't carry a 92FS anymore.

I rotate between a P99 and an Hk P2000. Those work for me, so I am satisfied

I had a P99 AS and liked it very much. Unfortunately, I found that really light (read plastic) guns were moving about more in my grasp, so I sold it. Still, I liked it as a carry gun, very much.
It carried well in a DON HUME belt slide holster.

I will admit that the P99 has more felt recoil than many other plastic 9mms. They made the gun so light, compared to some other polymer designs. I assume that is why it jumps a little bit more
