Beretta Accuracy

Most accurate combat pistol I have ever shot was the Beretta 92fs!!

My compact 92 IMHO was not as accurate but I have done some work on it and it is now very accurate- a lot of the fault rested with me however and the pistol work was just a 'shortcut' to improvement.

"While there is some play between slide and barrel when the gun is at rest, at the moment of discharge the locking block wings and slide shoulders lock up completely."

Interesting. Maybe it does. My 92 is a very sweeeet shooter. It's accuracy is equal to my own. However accuracy isn't the #1 consideration. Reliability is. And after a few thousand rounds, it's been flawless. Who knows how many rounds it fired before I got it.

One thing I can do with it... Ping a basketball sized target at 200 yards with it using 115 grain FMJ ammo. That's fun.

If you want to drill tiny holes in paper at 25 yards, a Beretta is not the right choice IMHO. But neither are any of the alternatives at that price point. The fact of the matter is, the accuracy of production guns under about $1,000 is wildly variable.

[joecartoon]I did that with my eyes...closed.[/joecartoon]

[kerpal]No...just kidding![/kerpal]

Well... I've so far decided to make 1,000 € my absolute limit. (Not that I'm in a hurry or something; I won't get my firearms permit before next year :( )

I guess I just have to take the chance...

Besides, I'd also like to do some other stuff than bullseye with it (that is, as soon as I get transferred, can leave this deserted wilderness where I live right now and find a decent range).

I don't know if I could do that but I have been amazed at several of my handgun's long range ability. Most people think that a handgun is only good for 25-50 yards but when you shoot at longer ranges, you see that most good guns will still have enough accuracy to hit things out to 100 yards or so. I don't think I have ever shot a centerfire hangun at 200 yards though.:what: I will sometimes shoot at 100 yards just to see what they can do.

People should try shooting at long range with there service type pistol because it can show how accurate they can be. I think most decent handguns would have no problem hitting a man sized target at 100 yards with every shot. That would be from a rest and slow fire, NOT in a combat situation!

Combat accuracy for me would be anything I could hit while shooting the gun behind my back as I ran away!:D I think I'm a coward.:(

Once I chased a guy that thought the same thing. Freaking hit me square in the chest with a .45 cal Norinco with no finish left, cracked wood grips, and a slide that rattled like a Diamond Back's tail when you shook it. Thank you KEVLAR. I still got him.

Your buddy might just have to get use to the Beretta trigger. Just like the Glock has its own feel, the Beretta is something that has to be adjusted to.

I don't juggle between guns very well and I have to put in range time before I get the feel of the firearm down.

I got ripped over at TFL in its last days about doing stuff like that. I can rattle off rounds with a Beretta 92FS and still greese targets at 200yds if I take my time.

Hitting a man sized target with a full size auto is a joke at 100yds. A 1911 or 92FS is still capable of hitting with ease at those distances.

I believe the MP5 has an effective range of 300yd as far as accuracy goes. I think.......

Some people, even good shooters, shoot badly with some weapons. Besides my various other reasons for disliking it I just don't shoot well with it. I can do fine with a borrowed USP(Since I can't friggin' own a pistol) but not a Beretta.
