Mods. You can move this to Accs. if you need to, I just thought I might get more info here. Thanks

A while back someone mentioned that Promag was interested in making Hicap mags for the .45 Storm. A couple months ago I called and talked to a tech. At that time he said that they were "tooling up" to make them and that the mags should be available soon.

Has anyone seen/heard anything about them?

I would wait and see how hi-cap and how cheap the new Storm mags turn out to be before going out and buying one. Pro-mag is somewhat affordable, but not milsurp affordable.

If the price is close to 30 bucks (most of their other mags are) I have to ask why someone would buy a storm and pay 30+ bucks a mag when you could make a cav arms lower based 45 that takes 30 rd grease gun mags at 5-10 bucks apiece? After about 5 mags, the price difference between the guns completely evaporates.

Also, the Storm counts as an imported firearm for the purposes of 922(r), something you might want to contemplate. SRT told me they wouldnt suppress a storm for that reason.

Beerslurpy, Thanks for the info. Unfortunetly suppressors are taboo in KS and the average joe in MO(when I retire). And, I alread have my SBR AR that I could put a .45 upper SBR on.

QUESTION; Does 922(r) apply to the SBR process as well? Choppin that pencil barrell has crossed my mind on more than one occasion.

I already have the Storm and it is the biggest hoot to shoot. It just stops poppin a little too soon. I am not looking to stock pile tha mags just 4-5 for trips to the range.

Anything NFA is considered unsporting under GCA 68.

A regular lower wont work unless you want to scour the world for 45 caliber uzi mags. Right now Oly Arms is having a huge problem turning out K45 rifles because they cant find mags for them. I nearly got caught by this mess and got them to delete everything but the upper from my order. Otherwise it would probably still be months till my order shipped.

I am using a Cav Arms MkII synthetic lower with the hahn precision adaptor. It has a wider magwell than the 223-only lowers. The lower is 180 assembled and 145 unassembled. The adaptor bits (magwell and heavy buffer) are a bit over 100 bucks altogether. If you want to reuse your USGI dimension lower and you dont care about suppressing it, you could do a 9mm conversion instead and use sten mags. This will be a lot cheaper.

I only went with 45 because I wanted the gun to be subsonic with normal ammo and I didnt want to give up any stopping power on that account. Subsonic 9mm just doesnt cut it as an alternative to 45 ACP. If you dont have these needs, 9mm should be just fine. The longer barrel gives a huge velocity boost- I have heard of people getting 1800 fps.
