I am in the market for an inexpensive pistol, and am curious about the Bersa/Firestorms. What do you all think? Or feel free to offer other options.
This is just a range gun and occasional carry piece. New or used is not an issue.
Thanks

If it's mostly a range gun make sure it's going to be fun to shoot. For the money I find CZ's to be great. I would look at a CZ-75, perhaps a CZ-P01 if you want something a little smaller. Wish I could comment on the Bersa but I've never shot the 9mm. Good luck.

A friend just bought one to carry and got a chance to test-drive it about a week ago. The Bersa seems to be a good little gun for the price, very nice trigger, kind of like my Sig. It's about the same size as my p239 and it feel good in the hand. It shoots more accurate than me, and out of about 75 rounds it didn't FTF/FTE once. I think that it would be a pretty nice little range/carry gun. One thing though, I'm a little apprehensive about the finish. I wouldn't neglect to check out the Steyrs on CDNN, in my opinion they are almost twice the gun as the Bersa and you can pick them up for about $300. I carry a M40 and wouldn't give it up for anything.

Recently I decided that I wanted my first 45acp. I had decided on a Springfield GI model, but none of the local shops had one. I did find a Bersa Mini Thunder 45 Ultra Compact at a local hardware store. This is identical to the 9mm version except for caliber & a few slight dimensional differences. Not being good at waiting, & having had a previous good experience with a Bersa 380 I decided to give it a try for only $299. I took it to the range over the weekend, & put 100 rounds (230 & 185 grain fmj) through the pistol. No malfunctions of any kind. Recoil was mild, & the pistol was quite accurate at 25 yards. So far I am very satisfied with this economical & so far reliable little CCW pistol. I do agree that the finish leaves something to be desired. I plan on carrying the Bersa in a waist pack, so I don't think the finish is really an issue. I did read that Bersa is coming out with a stainless version.
