Has anyone seen the Bersa BP 9mm? There is very little info about it anywhere. Academy has it listed on their website but when I went to the store today no one who worked there knew what it was and looked at me like I was crazy. They tried to look it up but the gun is not even in their computer.

Google searches on this thing bring up next to nothing. This is the most elusive handgun ever. Does anyone have information on this thing such as a release date for the US? The price is great and based on the specs it could make a decent CCW. All I have found is this: http://www.bersa.com/bersa-firearms/BPCC.html

It is vaporware, and has been for over 2 years. This may change, but I would just choose between the Kahr, Beretta, Ruger, Kel-Tec, Rohrbaugh and Boberg options that are out there. Even if it came out in wide distribution tomorrow, I wouldn't recommend anyone buy one for at least the first 6 months, maybe a year. There are always teething issues with these micro 9's. It's just a lot of cartridge to fit in a package this small.

Buds shows them in stock. As in they have them there and ready to ship (or at least a warehouse has reported them in stock for drop shipment). That kinda kills the notion of vaporware.

As to "teething problems" - there might be. Remember too though that these companies aren't starting from scratch every time they design one of these. You see what has worked for other companies and learn lessons from that.

Well, hopefully the extra time coming to market means they will have worked out those teething issues. Don't misunderstand, I own and like a Thunder 380, so I wish them all the best with this one. I just get frustrated with companies announcing things prematurely (not just Bersa). Beretta seems to have gotten it about right with their Nano, IMO. The fact remains, though, I just bought a Kahr CM9 a couple months ago, and I'm not in this market anymore. My next purchase will probably be a G26 or a Ruger SR9C, but that's probably gonna be awhile :)

400 were released to the Dist . Their more coming but their already a large back order Bersa will be a while catching up. Pistol has been later than expected . Some BERSA FAULT . MOST BATF AND CUSTOMS..

Couple members have ordered and were awaiting their test and opinions .

"400" made it to distributors...

Then makes the claim it is BATF's fault.

That math doesn't add up. 400 would be sold in one day at a store in Utah. Don't say its BATF's fault if there are only 400 available in first shipment. That means Bersa just made it.

They have one at my local gun store. Kinda feels like the Kahr. A tad heavier. About the same width and length. The handle is maybe 1/8th inch longer. It SEEMS to have okay quality, but not as refined as the Kahr CW9. The trigger was a little creepy but broke similarly as a Kahr. All in all, it seems to me like a Kahr like clone, but with its slide held open along side a Kahr, you can see the difference pretty quickly.

It's a nice looking gun, though. Hopefully it won't have a lot of problems.

I was under the impression it was thinner then a kahr

I think Kahr is pushing the limits of how thin a 9mm can be as is. If I am right the Kahr is .90 inches and the new Bersa is only .94 inches, 4/100's is not very much. It might not even be enough to notice when it is on the hip.
