Was at the gun store today looking for a rifle and my eye got caught on a Bersa thunder 45 ultra compact. Handling in the store felt smoot and I liked the trigger pull on it. I liked that it was a true double action weapon also with a manuel saftey/decock. I thought the grip was a bit large but it is a double stack 45.

New price was $360. Anyone here ever fired one of these? Good/Bad/other? Whats recoil like?

They also had a Bersa Thunder 9 ultra compact for $370. Compare and contrast these?

I was wondering about using one of these as a CCW option but thought I'd get feedback from the masses before purchase.

I have it's twin!

I purchased a Firestorm Mini .45 about a year ago. I liked the molded 'anatomically correct' grips on the Firestorm line better than the Bersa line. Other than that, and I think the sights, these are the same guns.

I like it. That being said, I don't think it is quite the same steal that Bersa/Firestorm line of .380's are. Nothing wrong with it, it just felt a little rougher than the .380 did.

It seems to have touble feeding some HP's, but I decided that due to expansion concerns, I was gonna stick with 230gr Hardball anyway.

Not to argue with PCRCCW, but, mine does have a safety on it, and the Safety works as a decocker. I like that.

They are kind of chunky, noticiably thicker than a 1911.

To summarize, while they aren't quite the steal the .380 are, they are still a good deal for the price.

$360 sounds right...if it is the nickle one. If it is an all black one, then you might be able to talk them down $15-20 dollars.

I paid $299 for my NIB Blue Thunder 45 a few months ago. Fired about 350rds thru it (all FMJ), and have had only one ftf. It doesn't kick very hard, is accurate enough, and seems well made and reliable.

It's not pretty, it's fatter than a 1911, and spare mags are pricey. But for a reliable $300 ultra-compact 45, I really like and recommend it.

they dont have a safety..just a decock. No Cond 1 carry.

Well, they do have a safety, but it decocks every time you use it so that is right, no Condition 1.

It is a double-stack .45, so it's gonna be fat. Didn't feel that fat since I carry a G30...but it fit well. Haven't shot one, but handled one for about half an hour. Seems well built. The shop I was at was selling one in .45 or .40 about twice a week and none came back. Considering this was a small shop, that's something!

For the price, well worth it.
