Best bang for the buck?

Pretty much any Ruger firearm.

This.
While they aren't around $200, single action Ruger revolvers are an incredible bargain for what you get.
You can get better, but you're going to spend a grand to do it.
Freedom Arms are nice revolvers, but with my current budget, I'd rather have 3 Blackhawks than one Freedom Arms.

I like a good deal just like everyone else, but sometime there is that special gun that just calls my name like a Browning BLR White Gold Medallion and then well you guys know the rest of the story.

I do own quite a few of those inexpensive rifles, but just once in a while you have to buy something real nice, price be damned !

All my best bang for buck firearms are mil surplus from the 90's. Kind of hard to manufacture a new firearm for what the old war horses used to sell for in the good-ole days.
$59 Nagant revolver, $79 Tokarev pistol, $149 Mas 49/56, $79 SKS, $99 96 Sweed mausers, etc. Those are all my cheap guns / battle proven brutes!

The only great bang for buck modern gun I have purchased lately is a LCP.... a whole lot of little gun for $200!

Pietta brass framed percussion revolvers on sale. Sometimes about $150. Yes they have bolt/cylinder notch issues. Yes the factory nipples are not as good as aftermarket nipples. Yes the brass frames will stretch if you use hot loads.

But if you want to put a lead ball down range cheaply like grandpa (great grandpa?) did, a Pietta blackpowder revolver is a remarkably cheap way to do it!

Old store-brand (Sears, Western Field, etc) shotguns with variable chokes are sweet bargains too, especially if you like steel and wood.

Agreed!

A couple of years ago, I found a really nice department-store Mossberg 500 with a C-Lect choke, jeweled bolt, and beautiful walnut furniture. Paid next-to-nothing for it. I don't really need it, but it was so pretty and looking so sad there on the pawn shop shelf.

Go to J&G sales, or Classic arms and look at the Star BM 9mm. ALL steel, Commander size, feeds EVERYTHING that fits in the mag. Spanish Military surplus. Most are 95-98% and run $199-$229. I bought FOUR.:):):):):

I paid $366 for a T/C Venture, after the $75 rebate. Strange promotion, given that Smith & Wesson is in the process of going Tango Uniform. I can't find anything wrong with the gun. A metal magazine would be nice, and the stock is not pretty, but...$366.

Others have cited Ruger, but I'll go more specific to say I think the Ruger American rifles are among their "best bang for the buck" offerings.
