Anybody got a line on a surplus dealer with good prices/cheap shipping? I've got lots of ammo to repack and move. The best I've been able to do is 10 SAW/.50 cans for $120 shipped.

With reason. There's so damn many of them that come off base. Don't try and get em ordered online, do something like above, craigslist.

MidwayUSA carries them. I've gotten ammo cans from Midway several times and they've always been in good shape.

I tend to get mine fairly reasonable at gun shows, and they tend to have a lot of them so you can check them out to ensure no rust or damage. Saves you on the shipping, especially if you need many of them.

gun shows or a army surplus store if you can find one.
the shipping usually kills a deal ordering them.... I try to buy ammo that comes with a can if possible.

The military often throws them away after use. Find someone in the military and see if they can grab some after they shoot the machine guns.

I would go with the .30 cal cans for moving ammo unless you are built like Arnie the Terminator. A 30 cal. can full of almost any kind of ammo will weigh 25 to 35 pounds. I would want a hand-truck to move SAW cans full of ammo, heh.

AMEN! I did that ONCE. Now I just use .30 cal cans (except for shotgun shells). Heck I don't even fill a .30 can most of the time.

And remember to be careful about where you put 'em. They can add up to a lot of weight in a very small "footprint" and some floors are just not that strong.

Last week I heard of a web site on the radio you may want to try. It is an auction site. They site is www.govdeals.com. You can find all sorts of items there; vehicles to vehicle parts, clothes to office supplies, ammo cans to firearm accessories. Check it out.

locally, SAW cans are 3 times the price of .50 cal cans for some reason. They're $19.99 each.
