Another thumbs up for The High Road. I migrated here from The Firling Line when they took a hiatus, and though I still drop in there occasionally, this has become "home." I also drop in at AR15.com and Glocktalk.com, but usually only to search for a specific bit of information or to check the equipment exchange listings. THR is the best for general discussion, and I find or receive the answers to most of my questions right here. (I love the search function!)

" Seems the firearm I found and thought was interesting was something they didn't want the " general population" to know about. Despite the fact that I "broke no rules" my post was deleted within a few hours. I was really put off by being censored. They, whoever it was that deleted.."

I've seen a lot of "banned" members on that forum so, am cautious about posting there. The pistol forum 1911 site appears to be micro managed by a nanny monitor. I removed my contact information from that one.

Much good information on the Ruger and Smith and Wesson forums and the AR15 forum. Apparently, my ISP believes the Ar15 forum is a spam generator and won't allow me to receive email from them. I haven't heard of anybody else having problems signing on though. Same e-mail situation exists with the graybeard outdoors forum causing the owner to go ballistic and threatening to ban me forever. I got out of there-forever.
Outdoors best is managed by the Guns and Ammo/ Shooting Times people and the 24hourcampfire is pretty neat and wide ranging also.

This site and thefiringline are no doubt the the best you will find.

No, really, they're called genital retention systems. Guns & Ammo said that John Moses Browning worked closely with Massad Ayoob and Delta Force to design the ultimate tactical undergarment, so it must be true.

Browning & Ayoob? Well, say no more... I believe, and toast the new GRS with a hearty glass of the Kool-Aid!

:p

Does anyone make tactipanties that incorporate a CamelBak dehydration pack so that you can go whizz and BANG at the same time?

:D

And all this time I thought that SEAL Team 6 went commando...my mental images are crushed...

C'mon... you know they can't go around with stuff clankin' around down there. Might alert the enemy, and that ain't tacticool...

A great place in the world, THR.

What was it?

I would wager it was probably a Tokarev TT or a CZ-52. They use a powerful bottleneck cartridge (7.62x25mm) and are both capable of penetrating body armor. I could see law enforcement being a little skittish with such information, but that doesn't mean the information should be censored.

IIRC, the 7.62x25 is only really capable of its rumored penetration abilities if loaded hot. I'm sure it's more likely to penetrate any given media than contemporary handgun rounds, but I doubt you're going to get through a IIIA vest with Sellier & Bellot.

Anyhoo, back to what really matters :neener:

I asked Cousin Bo down at the gun shop what them Navy SEALS wear and he said they use a 14-point sling system jockstrap that's essentially a miniaturized AR-15 tac sling. He said correct positioning was reeeal important since you don't have time to fiddle around down there when you're out on ops. Then he told me about how he once killed 37 NVA with his. He was a sniper in Vietnam and musta run outta bullets.

I sure do like that gun shop. Most of 'em are special forces so whenever they sell me a $2500 1911A1 I know I'm getting my money's worth! Why, just the other day they had a Kimber with all the internal parts handmade by this legendary Quantico fella named Mike I. Mike, and they knocked $50 off the price for me and threw in an Uncle Mike's universal holster for free. What nice guys. After I maxed out two of the credit cards to pay for it I went home and disassembled it and sure enough, all the internals had "MIM" stamped into 'em!

Alright gents, I'll play and i'll be short and not hijack or be too off topic for the thread. The thread is about best gun forums. Don't get me wrong, I am not bad-mouthing 1911forum, it's mods or owners. I was not banned but chose to no longer go to that site because of this. This thread and the mention of 1911forum just made me think about what happened more than a year ago. I was spending on Saturday morning looking at guns and searching this and that as we all have done countless times. I ran upon a website which I can't find now. It had a huge list of weapons. Some were the normal stuff and some were some cool oddities. On that list was the title Cellphone Gun. I thought it was neat and unusual so I made a post about it. Since I was not able to find the site I found a page that used the same photo and looks to be the same article that went with the one I found. CLICK HERE Too keep on topic I will agree that THR is a great place and the moderation of it as well.

HAHAHAHA!!! "stuff clankin' around" made me laugh very hard. This thread as a whole has been making me laugh, but so far that takes the cake.....

Cellphone gun huh? I bet the groupings will give Baer & Wilson a run for their money. I wonder if a trigger job consists of dialing a 900#? I wonder if before you can shoot you have to push 1 for English, 2 for Spanish, 911 for French & 666 for Arabic. :p

A few years back, American Derringer picked up this deal that looked like a metal ball point until pulled forward and down on the barrel. Then a trigger popped down and it looked more or less like a gun. .25 acp. One time the shop manager wasn't careful enough assembling one and shot himself in the palm. Hurt alot. Local range owner had one under the counter. He said,
"this would go over real good in the Houston Independent School district."

Yep thank you THR one of the best. others I visit are, Bighammer, and the FCSA members board. I sometimes go to gunsnet, but they are nuts over there, so I just read up in the general gun board and leave...

Thank you THR

I visit many gun related forum's, but THR is at the top of the list.
A lot of good advice to be had from a lot of good member's!;)

I do like how Glochtalk has a military forums, for the branches, as well as general military disscussion. There might be other sites like that, but that is the only one i have seen, just by jumping around here and there. i really like that feature and will probally staying there alot trying to square young people away so they don't get screwed to bad, and try to give great advice if at all possible, to what ever sittuation they have. I like taking care of soliders and take great pride in doing so.
