Hello,

I am looking for a paddle holster and was wondering what everyones opinion was....the best kydex type holster for the money.....

Ky tac
cen dex
sidearmor-they dont make a paddle holster I believe
galco
blade tech
uncle mikes
fobus

etc....

Thanks

I have a couple of the Fobus paddle holsters for my XDs and 1911s. They are good for the money, I like the roto hoster best because I can change the cant.

A friend of mine has one of the CQC Serpa Active Retention holsters. He found it at a gun show. I would certainly consider one. He had one for a Para. The fit of the weapon is excellent, and your finger goes naturally to the release button. I don't think they have all the accessories that Fobus does, but I think they are adjustable for cant.

Here's the link:

:) Been quite pleased with G-CODE,especially their double mag pouch. You can see them at -" http:/gunnersalley.com/ " - Belt or paddle attachments

i have the fobus paddle holster for my sig 220/226, beretta 92/96, glock 19/23, smith J and L frame and they are just a great utility holster.

the blade-tec, cy dex, ky tac are very well built holsters, but i don't think they are 2-3 times better

the uncle mikes paddles are about the same price as the fobus, but they are alot heavier, bulkier and less stable on the belt.

i use my paddle holsters for the range and casual CCW

Fobus isn't as specialized as some of the other Kydex holsters. The standard paddle holster is pretty basic. The Roto Holster is a little fancier. A nice Kydex would be maybe like some of the nice IWB BladeTechs and such. But for the money ($15) I'd back a Fobus against any other product out there. I started carrying with one almost two years ago and have had no reason to change my mind. Fobus has my endorsement.

very true...
fobus isn't kydex, it is polymer...but then so is kydex

kydex is becoming a term like "kleenex" and "coke", when we really are refering to facial tissue and cola...and he did originally post "kydex type"

I own Kytac and Fobus and have used Blade Tech and Uncle Mikes holsters.

I think "best plastic for the money" has to go to the blade Tech injection molded line. At the current $14.95 sale price, they are actually cheaper than the typical Fobus and Uncle Mikes pricing - and a substantially better product, IMHO [superior in construction and retention, among other things].

Whether or not one of the more expensive holsters is worth the extra money really depends on what you will be using it for. If you will be competing and want to shave off every second - a higher end holster will be appreciably faster. If you are a guncamp groupie and need something very durable - the expensive holsters are going to stand up better in retention drills, ect.

OTOH, if you just want a range/utility holster - you ought to be (fairly) well served with anything on your list. :)
