I've used a cheapo trap thrower from walmart for the last few years. Its tme for something nicer. Id like to stay with the spring launched manual type as I don't think I can justify the cost of an electronic thrower. What's the best manually cocked trap thrower out there? It needs to be able to slide into a covered truck bed is about the only requirement from there.

I have a Trius One Step that I really like. I originally bought it because I was tired of having to pester my wife to pull the launcher for me(I just realized how bad that sounds:evil:). It is a little pricey at around $100 but it's definately heavier duty than the $30 ones at Wally world. It does take a little getting used to having to step down on the pedal to activate the launcher but it becomes second nature in just a few outings. I think that the minimum weight requirement to be able to comfortably use it is 150 lbs. That is absolutely no problem for me. I bring a small section of plywood to set it on or else it digs into the ground too deeply. The main spring also ends up scratching some of the paint off. These little annoyances are trivial compared to the positive aspects.

+1 on the trius. I have been useing one for 20+ years with no problems. You just can't hurt these things.

I have the Trius as well. I bought it because it was the only one that didn't have horrible reviews. The fact that I can use it solo is a major bonus. My wife can launch it just fine too and she is tiny.

The one step was the thrower I'd heard the most good about. It looks well built but I have one hiccup with it. I like the ability to use a long string on the thrower I have and then shoot from the 16 yard line. If you move the bird a little forward or back in the thrower you can easily simulate the arc from a true trap field. I'd really like the ability to launch the bird from 16-27 yards in front of me if at all possible. If there is nothing better out there that can be placed that distance in front of me, I'll keep using what I have and save up for an electronic thrower.
