Where's the best place to purchase clay targets in quantities up to 1,000? A friend and I were lamenting the lack of skeet/sporting clays ranges in close proximity to our area and were thinking about setting up our own place to shoot clays. Where do most clubs order their targets from? I figure a shipment of a thousand or so clays could keep us busy for a while, since we only get out to shoot on weekends.

We are in Florence, SC and don't know of any place within an hour's drive to shoot clays. Local retailers seem to be sold out of the 90 round cases, and we think we can save $ if we can buy in larger quantities.

Could any of you help out?

Thanks

I "think" that our club buys their clays from Gamaliel's. We buy by the truckload, however, so it may not save you any money. One other idea, is asking the local WalMart manager if you can arrange for a large purchase, and if he can't handle it, make a deal to clean out his clays if he promises to give you contact info for his source. Our Walmart stocks about 15+ cases of 90ea at any given time, so it's a moot point for me.

Great Range in Camden

JB3rd,
There is a great sportingclay course in Camden, SC[should be about 30 minutes drive].....right off I20. Hermitage Farms Shooting Sports, run by Joe Cantey. Joe is a world champion Sporting shot, and an all around great guy. Joe also is a great source for shotshells...he has his own line of ammo brought in from Europe,a nd the performance and price can't be beat. Check out the shells @

Hermitage Farms phone number is 803-328-9321....he is open everyday but Monday. I'm down from Rock Hill to shoot abot once per week, and there is a big group of Florence/Dalington/Hartsville shooters hanging out. Wensday is a big day each week.....Joe cooks dinner for all the shooters every Wensday nite!

Thanks for the responses, guys.

Will, I believe I have been to Hermitage Farm once before. I have relatives in the Camden area, and they took me to a range over there. Nice place. We were there on a Wednesday afternoon, and the guys at the clubhouse asked if we were staying for dinner. The menu sounded great, but we had other plans for the evening and didn't stay.

I'll have to check it out, again.

Thanks
