Best shotgun sling?

I have a Winchester 1300 that's in need of a new stock and a new sling. The AR style Knoxx stocks seem to be all the rage now and it go me thinking that a shotgun might benefit from how far AR style 2-point slings have come in the last few years.

So what do you guys think is the best sling option (at any price):

* Viking Tactics [Wide Padded] Sling
* Magpul's MS2
* Wilderness Tactical basic
* other???

What's the intended purpose of your 1300? Knowing that might better help suggest a sling.

HD but a sling won't be on it while it's inside the house. The sling is for "just in case" carry outside the home.

1. a Single Point sling is almost useless for transport, hunting, etc. Its tacticool, but for HD you dont need it, and for hunting you dont want it.

2. a 2 point sling can get in the way of pumping a pump action, unless you got it setup really perfect.

3. I dont have one of those knoxx stocks, but I do have an actual AR buffer tube / magpul stock setup, and I do not use a sling, but if I did it would be for hunting and in that case it would be a GI carry strap.

4. Yes I own a MS2 sling for my ar, and I could easily clip it to the shotgun, but there is no use for it really. The shotgun is too large / heavy to be ideal for a single point in my opinion. HOWEVER, take this opinion with a grain of salt, because my 870 is 26 inches long with a 10 round tube.

My 870 is equipped to accept a Blue Force Gear, Vickers Combat Applications Sling (VCAS), which I use on all my AR platforms. I use a front side sling mount plate from Wilson Combat/Scattergun Technologies and attach the rear of the sling directly to the Knoxx Spec-Ops buttstock.

Where I train, we are required to have slings on all long guns. I use a canvas strap with QD mounts on my shotgun. It goes on when I take a class and it is removed when I am done. It is great for carrying and when you need both hands free for a short time. I wouldn't even try to use a single point on a shotgun.

I don't know any of the ones you mentioned, but don't get a "Claw", the ones with the wide grip rubber that goes on the shoulder.

It seemed good enough until I got in the field and was moving around with it, there is a bit of metal that sticks out to the side, it is the screw that pins to the swivel in front of the tube.

I have a little scratch now on the side of my barrel of my 870 from when it rotates up and hits it.

I have a "Claw" shotgun sling with loops, not swivels, that I shove into my bird vests when I go into the field. It allows me to sling the shotgun when I need both hands for something, but I don't want to put the gun on the ground.

Otherwise, I take it off. I hate having something hanging off my shotgun.

I have taken a different road entirely on a shotgun sling: I use a bunge cord. With it I can rotate the SG from my back to shoulder firing position in one smooth motion, and am able to wrap the cord aroung my left arm to stablize my aim.

The price is right, too, so if the sling doesn't work for you, there is little loss.

Can you pump the shotgun with the bungee cord wrapped around the arm? Or are you using an auto?

A sling for HD is not only not needed, it is worse than useless. The concept of the intrepid home defender having his SG go dry, or malfunction, then him dropping his SG to its sling point and whipping out his whatever caliber megagun and dropping the intruder is so BS I just about can't stand it.
A sling is useful for two purposes:
1. Humping the weapon over a distance
2. Hanging the weapon in a ready position at a fixed post-roadblock, other defensive position for a long time.
In a HD scenario the sling will:
Catch on something
provide a handy handle to disarm you or,
foil your shot.
Catch on something else,
Be used to strangle you.
Then catch on something else again.
In HD a sling cannot help you, it can only hamper or hurt you. It will look cool, particularly if it is studded with about 30 extra rounds of ammo, but I promise, it WILL catch on something, usually something that will not easily break away-like a doorknob, and screw you up.
