Best/worst tuckable holsters

I need a holster which could be work discreetly under a dress shirt. It would hold, in order of preference, either a Kahr P9, K40, Glock 17 or M1911...depending on what I can find in holsters. Kydex or leather, doesn't matter. Please share what works and what doesn't.

Oleg, I carried a J-frame bug as a 3rd gun in a Null "City Slicker"--a white shoulder rig. High recommend it if you are willing to tolerate the slow draw.

As with most things, the double-edge was that with the rig hid the weapon even without my suit jacket. It was slow, but I could have it "hidden" in plain sight.

I have been extremely happy with the quailty of the product. I have carried it almost every day for several months now and am very pleased with fit, function, and comfort. It is also available special order with a J-hook clip at no extra cost.

I am not sure how well it would work on the larger frame autos, but with my SIG 232 it is perfect.

When I worked as a night auditor at a local motel, I wore a tuckable IWB Blade-Tech holster. It was kind of a pain to get everything situated-->undershirt, holstered weapon in the right position, and then tucked in button-down shirt. But once everything was where it was supposed to be, it worked just fine. I would occasionally have to re-tuck my cover garment if I bent over to get something instead of squatting down.

Whether or not it's a good tuckable IWB, I couldn't tell you, as I don't know how any other holsters would compare.

Funny, that's the holster that got me on the quest to begin with. This one isn't mine but I tried it and found it comfortable. Getting one made for a K40, and might get M1911/G17 variants eventually. My question here predates my knowledge of other versions of the Answer...and I am still interested in opinions on other brands.

I would look at the Alessi Talon Plus, the Alessi Watch Six Dual Talon and the Milt Sparks VersamaxII. In addition to the ones previously mentioned, these are top notch holsters as well.

I'm sure there are others which I am forgetting to mention.

Great holster but the tuckable is a blanketyblank to put on.

I have Talon holster but it isn't tuckable...though could be improvised a bit. Answer holster pictured is certainly comfortable.

Rob: The Alessi Talon Plus and the Alessi Watch Six Dual Talon are not tuckable.

And honestly, the tuckable feature on the Milt Sparks "Versa Max II" is not all that practical. Its difficult to position and inconvenient to put on and take off.

The Tucker "Texas Heritage", Tucker "Answer" and Greg Garrett's "CTAC" are better holsters in that respect. And with the clear clips installed, they're not that obvious to the casual onlooker. Superior product. Stop being so modest.

Oleg, as to what doesn't work: The Galco "Deep Cover", Galco "Ultra Deep Cover", Galco "Stealth", Galco "USA" and Wild Bill's variations of the same, Mitch Rosen's "Workman" are all not worth considering. They're way too bulky.

Also, I've tried a generic belly band worn up high with the gun positioned at 3:30 and in the cross draw position. This method was also impractical and was quite uncomfortable after 3 hours. Draw times were slow and there was a high probability of the gun catching on clothing during presentation.

Just to complete the picture

Tucker also makes the Cover Up (adj. angle) and the Texas Heritage (two clips) IWB's. Both are tuckable. Sell lot's of both. Not a reinforced holster, though, if that is critical. Very comfortable, though. All clips now available in "clear" plastic as well as black. J-hooks also available.

Personally I have found that all of the IWB or tuckable holsters are not all that comfortable.

You need a small light gun for comfort with any of them,

Tuckables are very slow to draw, and require adjustment which may give tham away defeating their purpose.

IWB's are OK but as I said not all that comfortable. You need a good belt also VERY VERY VERY important.

Desantis makes a good leather belt for a reasonable price (under $100, I paid about $70 for mine). I also realy like my Wilderness instructor belt (1.5") model.

My milt sparks watch 6 is a good holster for an OACP, the biggest gun I can cary IWB and sit with.

Desantis Insider is a good holster as well.

The best deep concealment which is fastest to draw with the right gun and practice is a good pocket holster in pants with BIG Pockets, and a baggy fit or pleat front.

Glock g-26 in Desantis nemisis is the biggest gun I can carry in a pocket.

You may want to consider new pants, test the pockets, and you may want to ask your dry cleaner / tailor to sew you custom pockets for some pants if you need to wear wool dress or suit pants.

I'm 5' 11" and I weigh 190, so Im a skinny guy, no dunlaps thanks.

Sorry, your experience was uncomfortable. IWB is not for everyone. Some report it's like carrying a brick in their waistband.

Others report that they forget the gun is on their hip. I do think a flat, narrow gun is more important for comfort than length or butt length. There are certainly lots more good holster choices now than even a year ago.

SparK VMII Inside the Waist band with belt loops. As mentioned above, it has tuckable pants clips also and conceals the gun very well and comfortably. Also mentioned above is that it is a beast to get dressed with it in the tuckable mode.

Oleg - I guess Alessi is no longer making the "Ghost". It's a good, albeit simple tuckable. I've no personal experience with FIST's kydex tuckable, but if it's anywhere near as good as Jim's other gear it should work fine.

Personally, I've given up on tuckables and stick with pocket carry when I need such deep concealment.

Oleg- You know a lot more about guns than I, and the only thing I can share with you is what has worked well for me. I bought the Sig P-239 and carry in WildBills IWB "Undercover" at about 4:00. The Sig in 9mm weighs only 25.2 oz unloaded.. I did have them add a slide-guard and the holster with guard was only about 80.00.

For economic reasons I must stay with the pistol choices I now own: Ruger P90 and Glock 22. I'm thinking the G22 will be the easiest for IWB carry. I'm a lefty, and think I'll want it tuckable. Does Tucker have something to fit the bill?

Glock 22? Lefty? Sure.

The Cover Up, TX Heritage or the Answer are all available for your gun. Basically the choice is single clip leather, dual clip leather or dual clip Kydex shell with leather backing for comfort.

Right now the TX Heritage is the most popular holster we have. Haven't had any come back.

I just got a Deep 6 IWB from Talon Tactical. It's Kydex and quite comfortable with my Taurus PT-99. I wore it all day Sunday, climbing in and out of the truck a bunch, and I'm rather impressed with it. I also went to a CD and Record show and didn't raise any eyebrows with just a light shirt for cover.

Might want to look at the Supertuck by Cross Breed. I have been wearing one for 8 pluss months 16 to 18 hours a day and the thing just keeps on getting more comfortable. The unit becomes part of you and I can't say enough good about it. No I am not affilated with them just a very happy customer.
