Local shop has an AR-15 Beta C mag for sale $250 out the door - It's kinda neat but a lot of 30 round mags can be had for that price. I know the price of them has gone up a bit since the election but I'm not really sure if it's worth picking one up.

Any thoughts?

I have one, and I'm glad I do, but I won't buy a second unless the price is unbelievably good. They're just not practical. They make the rifle very heavy and very wide.

If you have the extra cash laying around and like to bump fire, go for it. But if you're still needing ammo and 30 round mags, go that route. I can get 17 P-mags for the price of one Beta.

Never figured out bump firing.... Not hurting for ammo or mags, just like to pick up interesting stuff when it comes along at good prices.

I would probably kick myself if they were banned and couldn't get one but if I did have one I'm not sure I would have any use for it.

I had one that I got for way less than that. It was a fun novelty (for me) to shoot it once. Perhaps if I had a full auto gun I'd have liked it more. As mentioned, it was heavy and the gun didn't balance great with it.

Even without the price taken into account, I'd rather have 4 Pmags than 1 beta mag. Since the 4 Pmags are much, much cheaper, that makes the price of the beta mag not worth it to me.
