There is a lot of really good info buried in The High Road thread database.
Unfortunately, vBulletin's 'Search' feature on THR seldom helps me find anything - but that's just me.

Enter, Google.

Most of you probably know this, but for those that do not, Google can narrow it's search to only include results from a single site.

Here's how.

  1. build your search term(s) - say "what gun for pink ninja pigs" or "9mm vs 45"
  2. add this text to your search string: site:thehighroad.org
...and you'll get this.

For what it's worth, it's helped me find a lot of good advice and kept me from asking questions that have been asked once or twice or 256 times before.

Enjoy.

All Hail the Mods! Justin you just saved me about an hours work I am doing for a paper. You the MAN!

It already is a sticky and has been for several months - top of Tech Support forum.

Also, if you haven't been following along, the native search engine is now much, much better than it has ever been thanks to some hard work by Derek Zeanah. Two character "words" are allowed, parens now work (i.e., "357 magnum" will return only posts with 357 and magnum next to each other).

Decreasing the minimum word length and phrased searches are good improvements (I assume these were tweaks to a MySQL full text column?).

But Google's (or yahoo or live search) real value is the results ranking, which is still greatly superior.
