Today was the birthday of the Bill of Rights. It was the deal-maker that guaranteed acceptance of the US Constitution. If those guarantees of individual freedom and limitations on the size and scope of government power hadn't been adopted the states would NOT have ratified the US Constitution and the form of government they enjoyed.
Wonder what the founders would think these days? Every article of the BOR has been severely limited or reversed. Wonder if they would then reject the Federal Government since it had welshed on the Bill of Rights?
A great idea, now dead. This was it's birthday.
