Went down to B'ham today for the gunshow. Wow, what a crowd.
We saw lots of the usual fair and lots of overblown prices. Chinese surplus 7.62X51 seems to have materialized and was selling for $15.00 for a box of 20. Most .308 that was available was at that price or higher. 140 round battle packs of South African were marked $110.00 each. The only .223 available was Wolf. In fact Wolf ammo seemed to be the only thing that was plentiful in any caliber. No ammo for me....I'm pretty well set for now........

Anyway I scored a Spanish FR-8 with a bent bolt and matching numbers!!! The overall condition is very good and the bore is clean with sharp rifling. Being that I got hard up for money and sold my previous one last summer, this was an excellent find. Got out the door with it for $300.00. Pics soon.

i went down to b'ham today for the steel city tactical rifle match.

it was a blast as always and well-run. it's way more fun than commiserating at gun shows.

What amazes me about the B'ham show today was the size of the crowd and the amount of buying. There was a MUCH better show in town there on 10/18-19, and it was poorly attended and there was little action. Surely to goodness we all sorta thought The One would be elected by 10/18. Prices now are +30% on stuff. Amazing.

Nice score on the Fr-8. I met a guy outside and sold him a gun. After the last one in Montgomery, I didn't even bother to go inside. I figured everything in there was priced up at a premium.

Nice score.I have a 1916 Mauser that is not safe to shoot 7.62 NATO in.Can anybody confirm that the FR-8 is safe to shoot full powered 7.62 NATO?BTW bayonets for those are cheap right now,get one......

We went to the Dallas gun show this weekend. VERY packed, and I walked out with an almost NIB Remi 700w/scope very good price. I was happy.

I can confirm that the FR8 shoots full powered .308 and 7.62 NATO.
The FR7 on the other hand should never be fired with anything but 7.62 Cetme rounds because of the pressure limitations.
