Proud new owner of DPMS w/16" bbl = 1/9 twist. Shooting one hole groups at 100yds =69 gr Black Hills Heavy Match Hollow Point...couldn't be happier!

I tried some of my handloads with 50,52,55 gr (originally loaded for my 595 Tikka bolt = 1/12 twist. Groups are 1"-2" in the AR, not what I'm looking for.

So... question is how I can duplicate BH HMHP loads. I plan on pulling a bullet and weighing the charge but won't really know what powder it is. I'm guessing it is a trade secret and possibly a blend, but thought I would ask if anybody knows their recipe?

I plan on working up loads with some different powders - 4198, 322, etc. From what I read I want to try 335, 748 and Varget (although guys are saying Varget is better below 60gr) any other suggestions are welcome.

With the difficulty finding the components - bullets, primers it would be good if I can minimize testing.

Thanks for your help

I would chrono your gun and the BH ammo. Use this as a benchmark.

Next, off NEVER GUESS WHICH POWDER they use! You can not tell one from another, and it is a non canister grade of powder, to boot! Ergo you can not buy it!

I would sugges that you look at slower burning powders like Varget or TAC! N135 or N140 is another thought!
