There is a thread in the General Discussion Forum about night shooting. I posted about how much fun it is to shoot black powder cowboy guns at night. Here is the link to the thread in the SASS forum showing videos that you soot lords might find entertaining

Moderators; I hope this is not considered double posting. I thought many of the Black Powder Forum participants might not see the link in the General Discussion Forum.

I remember in the recent remake of 3:10 to Yuma where they got attacked at night. The muzzle flashes in the distance from the attackers was pretty realistic and the first time I had seen shooting like that at night. It was like flash cameras going off in the brush where the shooters were hidden. I remember being in a BP night shoot and it didn't take me long to realize I had to get on target and shut my eyes the instant before the remingtons boomed or I'd be blind for about 5 seconds per shot. Once I got the rhythm down I did pretty good. The bad news was we had to load in the dark, the good news is I didn't "dryball" any of the pistols or have any misfires. I had for years thought while pouring powder & ramming balls, "I could load these things blindfolded". In the pitch dark that was essentially what was going on. Let's just say I was focused.

I learned the hard way that the first shot from my double loaded with Skirmish Fg ruined my night vision for the rest of the shoot.

I used to shoot blanks from my rooftop in the big city. Talk about great balls o' fire. :)
